In-Home Lactation Support

Those early days at home with your baby can feel overwhelming — especially when feeding isn’t going the way you hoped. You may be exhausted, emotional, and trying to figure everything out while running on very little sleep. Packing up a newborn and leaving the house for appointments can feel like too much. In-home lactation support allows me to bring compassionate, professional care directly to you, right where you and your baby feel most comfortable.

I offer in-home lactation visits for families throughout Palencia, Nocatee, World Golf Village, and surrounding St. Johns County communities. Home visits are designed to reduce stress while providing personalized feeding support in your real-life environment — your couch, your nursery, your feeding chair — not a clinical setting.

I support breastfeeding, pumping, combo feeding, newborn feeding concerns, painful latch, bottle or breast refusal, slow weight gain, pump setup and fitting, feeding routines, post-discharge feeding challenges, and early postpartum adjustments. Every visit is tailored to your family’s needs, not a generic plan.

What to Expect During Your In-Home Visit

Your visit begins with listening. I take time to understand what’s been happening, what you’re worried about, and what your goals are for feeding. I observe a feeding when possible, assess latch and positioning, and look at how your baby is transferring milk.

Being in your home allows me to see what feeding looks like in real time — your setup, your baby’s cues, and what’s happening between feeds. This often helps uncover small changes that make a big difference.

You’ll receive gentle, practical guidance you can start using right away. We’ll talk through positioning, latch comfort, pumping questions, feeding schedules, and any transitions you’re navigating. I focus on realistic strategies that fit your daily life, not rigid routines or overwhelming instructions.

Parents often tell me they feel calmer after their visit because they finally understand what’s happening and what steps to take next.

Who In-Home Lactation Support Is For

In-home lactation visits are helpful for families at many stages, including:

  • New parents adjusting after hospital discharge

  • Babies struggling with latch or feeding

  • Parents experiencing nipple pain or discomfort

  • Families navigating bottle or breast refusal

  • Babies with slow weight gain

  • Parents learning to pump or exclusively pump

  • Families transitioning between feeding methods

  • Parents returning to work and needing feeding guidance

  • Anyone who simply wants support without leaving home

Whether you’re in your first week postpartum or several months into feeding, in-home care provides personalized support during a vulnerable season.

Compassionate Care for Both Baby and Parent

I’m Julie Baumgartner, an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), and I created Best Hope Lactation to support families during one of the most emotionally tender times of life.

I believe feeding support should feel calm, respectful, and empowering. My role is to help you feel informed, supported, and confident — not pressured or judged. I focus on both baby and parent, because your well-being matters just as much as your baby’s.

Many parents arrive feeling discouraged or unsure and leave with clarity, encouragement, and a better understanding of their baby’s cues. Feeding challenges don’t mean you’re doing anything wrong — they simply mean you deserve support.

Support During the Early Postpartum Weeks and Beyond

In-home lactation support is especially helpful during the early postpartum weeks, when emotions run high and routines are still forming. I also support families who are exclusively pumping, managing feeding transitions, or adjusting to life with a growing baby.

Every visit centers on what works best for your family. Together, we create a plan that feels doable and supportive, not overwhelming.

Immediate openings are available, including same-week appointments.

If feeding feels stressful or uncertain at home, schedule your in-home lactation support visit today and let’s create a calmer path forward for you and your baby.
